A Post Doc Fellow position is available immediately in the laboratory of Karthick Chella Krishnan () in the department of Pharmacology and Systems Physiologyat the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. The lab works on a mitochondrial basic research project focused on liver biology The successful candidate will be investigating how host genetic background and sex differences influence the mitochondrial (dys)function and increases the susceptibility of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). The position will be availablefor at least two years with yearly extensions (up to a total maximum of five years) pending satisfactory progress and/or funding availability. Positions are temporary appointments as a research trainee.

Perform in-depth mitochondrial function assessments in isolated liver mitochondria, primary or immortalized liver cells, and/or cell/molecular studies in mouse models.
Aide, supervise, design and implementation of experimental assays, animal studies, data generation, analysis, and interpretation.
Write manuscripts and present data at national and international meetings.
Assist in preparation of materials for grant applications and active participation in other laboratory activities (laboratory meetings, journal clubs, seminars, etc.).
Mentoring of graduate and/or undergraduate students may be required.
Engage in appropriate training and professional development opportunities.
Play an active role in seeking career and research advice, both from the faculty supervisor and from other faculty members as well.
Keep informed of developments in field to maintain and enhance professional expertise.
PhD and/or MD degree in cell or molecular biology, biochemistry, or related field.
Experience in one of the following areas: liver biology, mitochondrial biology, animal models of obesity or liver or mitochondrial disease.
Additional Qualifications Considered
Experience with extracellular flux analysis of bioenergetic function (Seahorse Biosciences).
