The VP of Commercial Operations provides leadership, direction, and resource stewardship to the organization's sales, service, and business development functions. As the organization's senior-most sales leader, you will be accountable for overall sales organization performance, the profitable achievement of sales organization goals, and for aligning sales objectives with Systecon's long-term business strategy. You will serve as a key member of the Systecon leadership team and a trusted partner to our operations and finance leadership. This role is the principal customer-facing role in the organization, reporting directly to the CEO and President of Systecon.

This position is located in Cincinnati, Ohio and will require heavy travel.

What you'll do:


Align the sales organization's objectives with firm business strategy through active participation in corporate strategic planning, sales strategy development, forecasting, sales resource planning, and budgeting
Create and remain accountable for sales organization design, including sales job roles, sales channel design, and sales resource deployment
Meet assigned targets for profitable sales volume, market share, and other key financial performance objectives
Lead learning and development initiatives impacting the sales organization and provides stewardship of sales and sales management talent, sstablish learning and development objectives essential to the sales organization's success, oversees the effective delivery of training and development programs, actively assesses the value of training and development investments, and monitors learning and development outcomes to ensure high ROI
Establish and govern the sales organizations performance management system, including guiding sales organizational principles for managing performance, establishing, and prioritizing critical performance measures for all sales jobs; oversee the equitable allocation of organization objectives across all sales channels, markets, and personnel; and ensuring all key sales and sales management associates are held accountable for assigned results
Provide leadership to the sales organization's management team, while fostering a culture of accountability, professional development, high-performance, and ethical behavior
Remain accountable for the sales organization support budget. Proactively assesses existing sales organization support investments, including those in technology, training, and administrative support. Ensures support investments yield productivity benefits consistent with established objectives
Provide managerial leadership to Sales Operations in meeting this responsibility and works closely with IT to ensure technology initiatives are implemented consistent with firm technology strategy
Lead sales organization change initiatives by continuously assessing the need for organizational change, championing change initiatives, and removing obstacles impeding constructive organizational change
Establish and maintains productive peer-to-peer relationships with customers and prospects
Achieve assigned organizational objectives for sales, profits, volume, product mix, and other strategic goals
Support the achievement of strategic objectives critical to other functional areas within the firm

 
Qualifications
What you bring:


Bachelor's Degree required, Master's degree preferred.
A minimum of 15 years of experience in a business-to-business sales environment
Exceptional interpersonal, financial and business acumen
Competency in understanding and explaining technical and engineering solutions
Track record of scaling commercial teams through growth
High degree of fluency in sales methodologies
Ability to understand, calculate, and present complex financial analysis to customers
Excellent customer service and organization skills
Proficient in knowledge of Microsoft Office
Interest in innovation, mechanical contracting, energy efficiency, and passion to serve others and make a difference

Additional Information/Conditions:


Ability to travel up to 60%
Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer
Frequently communicates with company leadership, sales employees and customers
