CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS
The Uniformed Shift Coordinator, Corporate Security is responsible for uniformed security staff working one of three shifts for the Sherwin-Williams Headquarters locations. This position implements and enforces security policy and procedures. In the absence of the Security Sergeant, supervises the performance of multiple officers assigned to the shift, directs uniformed security operations and is responsible for the security and safety of the building and its tenants, and the protection of company assets. At times, a Shift Coordinator may be the only representative of building management present and would be required to make immediate, frontline decisions in an emergency.
Shift Coordinators run daily shift operations, perform the functions of a Security Officer including conducting patrols and working static posts; follow up on investigations and incidents; conduct, coordinate, and ensure completion of monthly safety inspections; respond to Emergency Calls; ensure corrective action taken for items reported by officers; reviews officer's paperwork and reports for accuracy and completeness; takes officer call offs and makes arrangements for coverage of shifts; assigns work / details to officers; assembles the weekend list on Fridays or the last business day of the week; ensures compliance with all OSHA and governmental regulations by officers; provides new hire training; identifies areas needing training for shift and assembles training programs to address; documents all training given subordinates; identifies areas of poor performance or policy / rule violations and based upon the infraction and the officer's standing in previous progressive disciplinary process, issues Cautions, Coaching, Re-Training and/or Verbal Warnings. Shift Coordinators work closely with management and their Sergeants to maintain department discipline.
Additional duties for Shift Coordinators include: Documentation of all counseling and disciplinary actions taken; assisting with evaluations for assigned officers, providing input for performance reviews of other shift's officers; observing and documenting officer performance for use in future reviews; identification of and encouragement for positive performance improvements, and consistently reminding officers of department expectations, goals, and objectives. Other duties as assigned.
Supervises between 3 and 8 security personnel including both full and part time positions.
Performs duties of a Sgt. in a Sgt's absence (days off, vacation, etc.)
Responsible for the security and safety of the HQ Complex, Landmark Office Towers, a 1.5 million square foot office complex with approximately 3,500 occupants.
Operates, maintains, tests, and trains others in the operation of facility life safety and security systems.
On call 24 hours - subject to mandatory OT, holidays, weekends, and rotating shifts.
Assists with writing performance evaluations for subordinates.
At the direction of and assignment by management, enters payroll data and assembles weekly schedules. Authorized to fill openings on shifts and approve OT under department guidelines.
Operates facility access control system: 3900 active users, 220 readers, 466 alarm points, up to 55,000 daily transactions, and obtains authorization for access requests from department directors and tenant security contacts.
Provides protection of tenant and Sherwin-Williams Company assets and personnel within Landmark Office Towers.
Monitors and responds to (as well as supervises subordinates in doing so) access control, alarms, and surveillance systems and multiple facilities globally.
May assist with security matters or incidents occurring at other company properties when contacted or requested.
High School Diploma or GED
205-Hour Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy Certificate
Security Applicants with their Associate's Degree or higher in Criminal Justice or Security Administration, police academy training, or similar approved course work may have their 205-Hour OPOTA Certificate requirement waived.
Associate's or Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Criminal Justice or Security Administration
Police Academy training or similar approved course work
Certified Protection Officer designation from the International Federation of Protection Officers
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
Within the first year of employment at Landmark Office Towers, this role must successfully complete training for CPR/first aid, Blood Born Pathogens, Haz Com, and Evacuation training
