Purpose   :

The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for the daily upkeep and maintenance of buildings, support and production equipment, and for the installation of new equipment.  This includes coordinating schedules, following up on assignments, maintaining quality and production standards, and ensuring that all company policies and procedures are maintained.

 

Responsibilities / Authority   :

Ensure that the safety of personnel, across all shifts, is prioritized

Supervise Maintenance activities, across multiple shifts, to support and improve production activities

Provide supervisory support for the facility across all shifts

Establish and maintain Preventive and Predictive Maintenance methods to reduce unscheduled downtime

Review and approve daily time keeping and vacation requests to optimize coverage

Coordinate work with outside vendors/contractors to assist with maintenance activities and improvement projects

Coordinate the apprenticeship program, including on-the-job training

Supervise the Hot Work, Confined Space, and Lockout/Tagout programs

Provide timely, unbiased, and effective performance evaluations for Maintenance personnel

Maintain appropriate spare parts inventory levels for critical machinery

Plan and recommend future equipment and facility requirements and support lean initiatives

Maintain quality, safety, and production standards following all ISO and MTD procedures

Participate & support Continuous Improvement activities at the facility

Assist in the selection of new technology and lead the installation, retrofit, and relocation of equipment

Maintain active involvement with MTD Operational Excellence (MOE)

Travel to other facilities for learning/training and continuous improvement as needed

 

Minimum Qualifications   :

Minimum of five years' experience in Industrial Maintenance and Supervisory experience

Have a strong understanding of electrical, robotic, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems

Proven ability to work unsupervised and to make sound business decisions

Ability to supervise and direct all activities associated with the building, and implementation of new equipment

Proven experience with project development and management through successful completion

Maintain a valid driver's license

Able to provide the necessary documentation to ensure proper record retention

Have strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

Effective verbal and written communication skills

Working knowledge of OSHA, NEC Standards, and the Fire Code

Technology skills including, MS Office Suites (including MS Projects); CMMS; time keeping

Ability to work additional hours as needed (i.e. different shifts, weekends, and plant shutdown periods)
