Service Provided by the Spiritual Care Team
The Aultman Spiritual Care team is available 24 hours a day to spiritually and emotionally support patients, families and staff regardless of their faith or denominations. The Spiritual Care Department respects and provides for each patient's right to pastoral counseling regardless of the patient's religious affiliations. Appropriate community resource persons will be contacted as needed to assure access to pastoral care services to all patients.

Spiritual Care's mission is to assist with the spiritual and emotional well being of our guests and employees, focusing on meeting the needs of the whole person (Body, Mind & Spirit). Chaplain's will be well-versed in best practices, and will be experienced as advocating for, nurturing, and celebrating a high level of professionalism in chaplaincy. Our goal is to develop a relationship with individuals, enter into their mental and emotional state, and respond with empathy and compassionate statements communicating care and concern.

 Chaplain's Major Hospital Duties:

Participate in a team ministry to provide unit and on-call coverage; work cooperatively in planning and providing a total program of chaplaincy care; some evening, night and weekend on-call
Daily rounds and answering referrals from patients, families, staff and Cerner Consults (Cerner training will be provided)
Assist with Codes and traumas
Assist Lead Chaplain with funeral, baptisms, and other sacraments when needed
Assist Lead Chaplain with special functions for hospital and community
Document encounters and visit assessment in Cerner
Travel is required with mileage reimbursement for personal vehicle use

Chaplain will have a Bachelors Degree in Theology, Ministerial Studies or equivalent field and 4 units of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) or currently enrolled or enrollment eligible to complete in specified period of time. Chaplain must have a good employment and attendance record. Maintaining confidentiality is critical to the job. The chaplain must possess an ability to communicate effectively to patients of all faiths and backgrounds.

Working Conditions at Aultman Hospital:

Walks, sits, and stands intermittently
Subject to frequent interruptions and changes in priority of duties
Involved with personnel, patients and families under all circumstances and conditions, especially high stress conditions.
