The American Red Cross (ARC) spends $2 billion annually on goods and services. Of this amount, $1.4 billion is spent on goods and services that should be strategically sourced (sourceable), including regulated and non-regulated materials, supplies, facilities and equipment maintenance, consulting, and IT hardware, software, telecom and professional services. The $0.6 billion in spend that is not strategically sourced mostly consists of payments to government agencies, grant recipients, inter-Red Cross transfers, and payroll and employee benefits. Supply Management has created a Market Intelligence/Benchmarks 'Center of Excellence' (COE) that is instrumental in establishing fact-based, written Category Strategies.
The analyst in this role will be a part of the center of excellence that will be instrumental in achieving a standard of world-class performance. Within the center of excellence is Supply Market Insights, led by the Director of Supply Market Insights. The Director of Supply Market Insights is accountable for managing and developing a team of high caliber analysts responsible for developing executable intelligence, central to achieving world-class.
Key Objectives for a Market Analyst
Become experts in developing cost models.
Become experts on financial and technical forensics to ascertain information that is used to develop cost models and/or benchmarks.
Learn the processes of value analysis/ value engineering and the resulting changes/innovations that drive improvement.
Become experts in harvesting market insights that drive business decisions.
Develop skills that leverage the power of information in negotiations and contracting.
Learn the principles of risk allocation through contracting.
Become adept communicators for all levels of an organization.
Learn and exercise leadership principles that demonstrate the necessity and power of influencing.
Learn through experience the change an enterprise goes through as a part of the transformation of Supply Management.
Learn what are the metrics, measures and actions required to achieve world-class performance in Supply Management.
Include Analysts in a mentoring program designed to advance experience in sourcing and category management, with the objective of giving them sourcing initiatives to lead independently.
The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Candidates must have a strong business acumen and technical acumen is also desirable.
Examples of accountabilities and responsibilities include:
Provide assistance to Category Managers in developing category management strategies from a companywide perspective.
Analyze business and market trends to recommend new strategies for sourcing.
Develop strategic cost models that will be used for executing negotiation strategies.
Develop business case presentations that are the basis for influencing change in how third-party investments are made.
Develop market, industry and supply segmentation as a part of developing category strategies.
Develop market intelligence solutions used as the basis for making business decisions/ improvements.
Using spend analytics, play a key role in segmentations and analyses with the objective of developing sourcing/ category strategies.
Participate in supplier relationship management programs designed to leverage the relationships with strategic suppliers.
Assist in value analysis/ value engineering to identify innovations and changes that can create value for the organization.
Participate in supplier reviews and/or audits and assist in the execution of negotiation strategies.
Act as a member of category, or sourcing teams while executing initiatives.
May support other procurement duties and ad hoc requests as needed.
BS in Finance, Accounting, Supply Management, Engineering or a technical degree or equivalent combination of education and experience Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or equivalent experience
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience
Relevant proven technical experience may be an acceptable alternative to the above specified degree. If the candidate has technical experience and a bachelor's degree, these credentials may be an acceptable alternative.
Adept communication skills.
Candidate will work virtually and can be located preferably in the Eastern or Central time zones of the United States. Work hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern.
For those candidates located in Colorado, the salary range for this position is: $91,200-$103,360
