Shift Manager, Operations - Hot Strip Mill

The Shift Manager is responsible for all the people utilized in the conditioning, heating, rolling, shipping of steel and maintaining the mill equipment including the cranes
Shift Manager works with the Roller to monitor and control the process of hot rolling steel and is responsible for safety and environmental tracking and compliance
Provides leadership development and training of production crews
Also works with other personnel in the plant that provide services such as crane repair, HVAC, transportation, water treatment, etc.
Directly supervises up to 60 operating employees spread throughout the Slab Yard, Mill, Furnace, Roll Shop, and Shipping areas, as well as up to 20 maintenance employees
The Shift Manager works with the Operating Manager, Process Manager, Process Engineer, Area Managers, Maintenance Managers, Quality, operating and maintenance personnel to reduce delays, costs, and improve the unit's quality performance and reliability
High School Diploma or GED
The applicant should have at least 3 years supervisory experience in heavy industry, with mechanical/electrical maintenance experience and experience prioritizing work and handling multiple projects
Applicant should have demonstrated strong leadership/team skills
Good interpersonal and communication skills
Strong problem-solving and negotiating skills
Needs to have computer skills including e-mail, word processing, and Excel and have enough computer skills to learn and use other application software daily
Hot mill or other rolling mill experience would be preferred.
Bachelor Degree in Business or Engineering
