Job Description

The Team Lead provides support to the Warehouse Supervisor in the day-to-day running and operation of the warehouse. This includes the overseeing and motivating the team, the supervision of the flow of parts and control of inventory. The Team Lead leads by example and supports an environment and culture within thyssenkrupp Bilstein where the customer and safety is firmly at the center of everything that we do. This position works a 12 hour a day schedule 6:00 am to 6:00 pm on a 2-2-3 work week ( 2 days on, 2 days off and every other weekend working 3 days).Responsibilities include: Overseeing and provideing general direction for up to 20 full-time and temporary employees, and ensures they are all properly trained. Coordinating manpower to ensure needs are met in the event of an employee absence (i.e. vacation). Interpreting specifications and job orders to Material Handlers, and assigns duties. Promoting and supporting a teamwork approach to achieving goals, ensuring open and effective communication. Leading a culture of safety across the warehouse, ensuring that steps are proactively taken to ensure compliance with Company Safety requirements and investigate accidents when needed. Ensuring the development for Material Handlers through cross-training and monitoring job performance. Embracing a continuous improvement approach through effective leadership, with high levels of integrity and performance for his/herself and others. Performing as a superior role model for all associates (i.e. attendance). Ensuring implementation of 6S throughout area of responsibility. Maintaining an organized and well documented warehouse area. Assisting in maintaining the current Warehouse Management System; and Warehouse Management module in SAP. Investigating problems, finds root causes, develops solutions and reports to Warehouse Supervisor as soon as possible. Operating a stand-up forklift to assist in loading or moving materials and products. Recommending measures to improve warehouse methods, equipment performance, and Quality; and works with Warehouse Supervisor to identify and implement continuous improvement activities. Demonstrated experience leading and motivating teams in situations associated with high volumes of work and/or customer demands. This would include providing direction, coaching, and effective feedback to team members. Demonstrated understanding of inventory management strategies, as well as inventory transactions and the physical movement of inventory. Demonstrated knowledge of transportation management, inventory management, and Customer communication skills. Experience working in a warehouse environment safely operating facility material handling equipment (e.g. forklift, pallet jacks, automated storage & retrieval systems, carousel) and picking and packing equipment (e.g. scanner, scale, tape machine). Experience operating various forklifts (order filler, stand-up reach, sit down electric, scissor lift). Experience working with large ERP systems (SAP in WM module preferred). Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Demonstrates a strong customer focus along with a great work ethic and willingness to do what needs to be done (without taking shortcuts). Ability to work in a fast paced environment with multiple priorities and multiple tasks. Highly organized with ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Exhibits integrity through fair and ethical behaviors in all activities; maintains accountability for performance. Strong attention to detail with well-developed organizational and communication skills.
