Job Description

The ERU Lab Tech completes analyses and characterization to accurately profile new waste streams. This includes the daily maintenance, trouble-shooting and operation of sophisticated analytical instrumentation needed for regulatory requirements for quality assurance of the results provided from the ERU laboratory in order to process waste coming to the ERU.

  • Handle receipt and planning of inbound waste shipments ensuring the materials are received and inventoried and prepared for incineration and is in compliance with all DOT and RCRA requirements
  • Generate the daily inventory report, material handling schedule and incineration schedule and uses Enviroware database to enter receipt, inventory and laboratory analysis and creation of appropriate work orders for operations
  • Generate lab analysis sheets, burn tickets, pumpout tickets, and repack tickets necessary for operations.
  • Schedule outbound waste such as flyash and slag for shipment to outside commercial waste treatment facilities, including profiling these wastes creating manifests and ensuring waste shipments meet regulatory requirements; additionally resolves manifest discrepancies with customers in a timely manner.
  • Interact with other members of the Customer Service Team; Material Handlers, Lab Technicians, & Customer Service Manager as well as Shift Engineers and Specialists/Operators
  • Order & maintain an adequate inventory of chemicals and other laboratory supplies.

  • Associate Degree in a relevant science field with 2 years industry experience, or at least 4 years of experience in an analytical laboratory
  • Strong analytical skills and experience with instrumentation such as GC, GC/MS, ICP, TGAs is desirable
  • Database management experience, RCRA knowledge of generator, transporter & storage rules, and knowledge of DOT rules for shipment of hazardous substances are desirable
