Corporate Accounting Leader Job Summary

The Corporate Accounting Leader leads a variety of Financial and Accounting functions as assigned by the Controller. Works closely with and in support of the Controller while providing leadership over multiple department leaders/teams with diverse duties which may include: preparation of financial accounting and reporting, premium billing and collection, securities accounting and custody, financial compliance, general accounting and payroll services, and federal, state and local income taxes. Serves as a liaison with external auditors, department of insurance, and business units providing financial services and information needed to support the business.

Desired Qualifications/Experience/Certification/Education (in order of importance)

Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
Professional certification as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
8+ years' of accounting experience including:

5+ years' leadership experience with staff management and development.
5+ years statutory P&C functional accounting leadership experience or 7+ years of statutory P&C audit experience

Extensive knowledge of Accounting principles and regulations, banking, investments, financial systems.
Advanced knowledge and understanding of computer applications, including but not limited to:

MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
PeopleSoft Financial

Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to interact at all levels within the company.
Collaboration skills with ability to build effective relationships and influence peers and key stakeholders.
Experience planning and leading projects or initiatives with an enterprise-wide focus and the ability to plan tasks, assign resources, manage progress, and motivate team members across multiple projects.
Valid driver's license and a driving record that conforms to company.

Ability to work effectively in an office environment for 40+ hours per week (including sitting, standing, and working on a computer for extended periods of time).
Ability to communicate effectively in a collaborative work environment utilizing various technologies such as: telephone, computer, web, voice, teleconferencing, e-mail, etc.
Ability to travel as required.
Ability to operate an automobile within the parameters of the driving policy.
