The School of Education in the College of Education, Criminal Justice, and Human Services at the University of Cincinnati (UC) invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor-Educator (non-tenure track) with primary responsibilities in the Educational Leadership program andfocused on K-12 educational leadership and policy issues. Relevant expertise may include, but is not limited to school leadership and reform, school finance, school law, curriculum, instructional leadership, race & equity, or other similar topicsthat speakdirectlyto the challenges facingtoday's school leadersand urban education in particular. The position is expected to begin August 15, 2022.
The Educational Leadership & Policy Studies program at UC includes four degree-granting degree programs:
a thriving principal preparation program-including both a master's and graduate certificate;
an Ed.D. in Educational Leadershipwith a focus on both K-12 education and higher education;
a Ph.D. with a concentration in Educational Policy & Higher Education;
a master's degree with a concentration higher education administration.
While this position will focus primarily on K-12 education, we invite applicants eager to join a collaborative program that focuses on leadership and policy in K-12 and postsecondary settings.
Teaching online and face-to-face courses within the Educational Leadership program, including master's and doctoral level courses.
Preparing field practitioners to lead various school, institutional, and education-oriented organizationalsettings.
Advising students in the Educational LeadershipM.Ed.and licensure programs.
Supportingthe Educational Leadershipprogram through service to the department (e.g., attending departmental meetings and taking leadership opportunities to develop and grow the principal leadership, K-12 areas, etc.), and working with colleagues on program, school, and college service activities.
Working with existing faculty on thegrowth and expansionof the Ed.D. program.
Displayinga collaborative spirit and a desire towork with fellow faculty members, other academic programs, local community agencies,and local, state, and national educational andprofessionalorganizations andassociations.
Demonstratinga commitment to educational equity and a desire to support the mission ofa large, urban, research-intensive institution.
An earned doctoral degree in educational leadership, policy, administration, or a closely related field.
Evidence of or potential for successful university teaching experience (a minimum of two years experience) - particularly at themaster's and doctoral level.
Evidence of or potentialtoadvisemaster's students in the area of educational leadership and policy, and to further support doctoral studentresearch (a minimum of two years experience).
Evidence of a sustained interest in and deep understanding of the current scholarship and research related to educational leadership, policy, equity, and related fields as demonstrated through at least three research-oriented professional presentations beyond the dissertation defense in academic and/or practitioner-based settings.
Additional Qualifications Considered
A minimum of 3 years of prior professional experience as a teacher or leader in K-12 public schools or extensive professional partnerships with K-12 schools that demonstrate a deep understanding of K-12 education. Professional experience can also extend to foundation and governmental work related to education.
Interest in participating in and contributing to the broaderresearch community (e.g., publications, presentations, or scholarly communities orprofessional organizations) regarding K-12 education leadership and/or policy issues as demonstrated through at least three research-oriented professional presentations beyond the dissertation defense in academic and/or practitioner-based settings.
Expertisein applied research methods (e.g., qualitative, quantitative, or mixed-methods)and ability to teach such courses as demonstrated through publications or presentations.
