Summary of Principal Functions

The Senior Advanced Analytics Specialist (SAAS) provides technical expertise in Analytics applications domain. The SAAS designs, develops and supports technical components of Business Objects and Power BI applications. The SAAS has applications expertise and applications development lifecycle knowledge that is leveraged to develop specifications, test scripts and documentation associated with the application. The SAAS develops programs, scripts, reports, interfaces, procedures and configures the system to provide business functionality. Functions also include system/security administration and user set up. The SAAS possesses a basic understanding of business processes that the technology supports. The SAAS trains and mentors more junior Advanced Analytics Specialists and provides technology domain expertise to the organization.

Specific Responsibilities/Essential Functions

Participates in the analysis and review of existing or proposed solutions, considering functionality, integration, security, scalability and performance requirements. Provides input and support in the evaluation and selection process for application packages, and advises on options, risks, costs / benefits and impacts on technical architecture and business processes. Responsible for all phases of design, development and documentation of programs, scripts, reports, procedures, interfaces and system configuration. Provides technical/analytical support for applications and associated layered products. Coordinates with software vendors as needed to resolve technical problems. Provides guidance and training for junior level employees.  Supports system administration, security and user set up. Coordinates activities with project managers, business analysts, enterprise architects and business users as required on projects. Understands how the application of technology supports and optimizes business processes. Develops and executes test scripts. Supports the development of overall test plans for projects. Supports the development and maintenance of a comprehensive test suite for target applications. Participates in the establishment and management of technical standards.  Supports system patches and upgrades. Supports the development of future technology direction and strategy. Drives continuous improvement. Supports the development and execution of disaster recovery tests and planning. Maintains applicable professional certifications and current technical knowledge.

Education/Experience Requirements

Education:

Bachelor's degree in information technology or related degree.

Experience:

8+ years of technical experience including:
Design
Coding, configuration and solution development
Specifications development
Applications support
Customer interaction
Technical team leadership
Database / applications management
Contingency and disaster recovery planning
Estimating in support of project budgeting
Problem solving - track record of working in production environments and responding quickly and effectively under pressure and deadlines
Application of information technology in mining and/or manufacturing environments

Application-Specific Knowledge Requirements

SAP Business Objects:

SAP Webi tool - In depth understanding of SAP Webi report designer to create complex reports and graphs.
SAP Universe design - Experience designing and maintaining SAP Universes using the UDT and IDT.
SAP Data Services
Troubleshoot BO environments and software, performance-tune these applications as necessary.
Use of CMC tools to manage system services, monitor system health, and system recovery.

Power BI:

MS SQL Server Analytics Services
MS SQL Server Integration Services
MS SQL Server Reporting Services
Dashboard and Report development

Advance Analytics:

Comprehensive data warehouse analysis and design experience, with full knowledge of data warehouse methodologies and data modeling.
Strong ability to analyze user requirements and build front-end Analytics applications according to specifications.
Strong understanding of relational database structures, theories, principles, and practices.
Exceptional analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities.
Design, code, test, and document all new or modified Analytics systems, applications, and programs.
Develop the semantic layer, metadata, reports, and report definitions.
Assist in the design of databases and data warehouses to ensure interoperability with Analytics solutions.
Produce ETL design guidelines to ensure a manageable ETL infrastructure for the Analytics system.
Technically strong in ETL concept, design and development.
