SUMMARY

The Staff Accountant is responsible for assisting with Global Software Services (GSS) with the period end close process and other routine accounting functions. This includes preparing account reconciliations, investigating variances or unexpected results, preparing and posting journal entries and working with others to find creative solutions to challenges and issues. This role will involve partnering with other teams in the accounting and finance department including Treasury, Financial Planning and Analysis, payroll, tax other Covetrus subsidiaries to process intercompany transactions.

This role will receive support and supervision from the GSS Controller accounting as well as others within the accounting and finance department. The ideal candidate will also have the ability to work independently when appropriate and exercise sound judgement when assignments have been delegated.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Assist with the monthly, quarterly and annual close process for ensuring all financial information is accurately reflected in the general ledger in compliance with GAAP
Perform account reconciliations and investigate significant variance or unexpected results
Prepare journal entries
Perform initial analysis of significant accounts as necessary
Assist with preparing documents and responding to requests from the Company's external auditor and internal SOX team as necessary
Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
Must have the ability to communicate relevant information to the intended parties in an easily understandable format
Must have the ability to multitask reorganize assignments based on shifting needs and priorities
Must demonstrate strong attention to accuracy and detail
Desire to seek out opportunities to assist others with special projects and other initiatives during any downtime
Must have the ability to utilize creative problem-solving skills
Must demonstrate a strong commitment toward continual learning and personal development
Must have the ability to understand complex and sensitive issues, demonstrate resourcefulness and creative problem solving to assist with addressing issues

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

CPA or CPA track preferred but not required

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance or related degree
Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in public or private accounting or finance
Public accounting / audit experience with desire to obtain CPA license preferred but not necessary
Experience and proficiency in Word, Excel and Power-point
Experience with general ledger and financial reporting systems. Experience specifically with Hyperion HFM and Microsoft D365 beneficial but not required
Basic to intermediate understanding of US GAAP
Experience with multiple entity / subsidiary organizations and intercompany transactions preferred
