Position Overview

The Senior Financial Analyst position is responsible for supporting the External Reporting Team in all aspects of the Company's external financial and compliance reporting processes. In addition to the preparation of the Company's financial statements, the Financial Analyst is also responsible for research of complex technical accounting issues, ad hoc reporting requests, and providing thought leadership on various accounting decisions. Hexion is looking for an analytical and detail-oriented individual, who thrives in a complex environment, with a strong background in technical accounting and SEC reporting. This is a high-visibility, challenging position that will provide a broad overview of a dynamic, four billion-dollar multinational organization. For the appropriate candidate, this position will provide an entry for a career path into other Senior or Manager level positions.

Job Responsibilities

Assist in the planning, organization and preparation of the Company's external financial statements and SEC filings (including Forms 10-Q and 10-K, 8-K), as well as other filings in conjunction with various corporate transactions (i.e. 144A, Form S-1, S-4).
Organize and maintain supporting work papers for amounts and disclosures contained in external financial reports; ensure the accuracy and integrity of all financial disclosures and information.
Coordinate the collection of supporting documentation from various domestic and international locations.
Work with external and internal auditors to provide information required to complete quarterly reviews and annual audits.
Assist in the identification and resolution of key US GAAP and SEC reporting issues and formulation of findings into memos and disclosures.
Collaborate with the investor relations department in the preparation and review of Company press releases.
Assist on special projects as needed to support transactions, accounting standard implementations, etc.
Assist in the analysis of the quarterly financial results leading to significant interaction with external auditors and divisional finance personnel.
Organize and maintain supporting work papers related to Sarbanes-Oxley 404 compliance.
Participate in and facilitate training for the Global Finance organization on US GAAP related matters.

Minimum Qualifications

3-6 years of relevant work experience including at least 2 years in public accounting (Big 4 preferred)
CPA certification (or in process)
Thorough, comprehensive and current understanding of U.S. GAAP and some knowledge of SEC regulatory requirements; demonstrated ability to interpret and apply U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting requirements
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, organizational and project management skills
Detail-oriented with strong verbal and written communication skills
Willingness to take initiative, own and follow through on projects to completion
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, organizational and project management skills
Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks and consistently meet deadlines in a dynamic work environment
Outstanding interpersonal skills with ability to interact effectively with all levels of management
Microsoft Excel proficiency

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working in/with a multinational corporation and/or a manufacturing environment
Experience with SAP R/3 or SAP Business Finance Consolidations (BFC/Cartesis)
Experience with wDesk Workiva reporting software
