Interns will work directly with our team to understand the various programs and every day operations of the Agency. They will have the opportunity to develop stronger organizational, communication, and time management skills.

Expected Internship Duration: 8 weeks (may be renewed as appropriate)
This paid internship is a planned and structured work experience that provides youth various opportunities for career exploration and skill development. Individual must meet youth program eligibility requirements for this funded internship/learning opportunity; youth program ages are 18-24 years old. Applicants will be screened for youth program eligibility.
About our Agency:

OhioMeansJobs Intern:
• Serves as intern for job center assistance programs
• Provide exceptional customer service
• Assists clients by providing information concerning job center resources and employer hiring events
• Refers clients to appropriate office or unit
• Answers phones and returns customer inquiry phone calls
• Connects callers with appropriate staff
• Processes Agency mail for delivery to Post Office
• Scans documents into the Agency document imaging system
• Completes routine paperwork, general clerical duties, and other duties as assigned (e.g. light typing, data retrieval from PC, etc.)
• Copies, assembles and prints Agency documents and information packets
• Host employer job fairs and hiring events
• Posting employment openings on various websites and job boards
Income Maintenance Intern:
• Serves as intern for public assistance program departments (food assistance, cash assistance, medical, etc.)
• Provide exceptional customer service
• Assists clients by providing information concerning Public Assistance programs
• Refers clients to appropriate office or unit
• Answers phones and returns customer inquiry phone calls
• Connects callers with appropriate staff
• Processes Agency mail for delivery to Post Office
• Assures appropriate postage
• Scans documents into the Agency document imaging system
• Completes routine paperwork, general clerical duties, and other duties as assigned (e.g. light typing, data retrieval from PC, etc.)
• Copies, assembles and prints Agency documents and information packets
Investigations & Adult Protective Services Intern:
• Assist in obtaining computer matches in system to verify employment, earned income, and unearned income
• Prepare and send subpoenas to places of employment
• Process and prepare mail for agency purposes
• Prepare overpayment letters to be sent out
• Conduct address verification
• Complete routine paperwork, clerical duties, and other duties assigned
• Scan in documents to keep system updated
• Assist investigations unit on daily basis
Janitorial Intern:
• Gather and empty trash
• Clean building floors, furniture, windows, walls, etc.
• Clean and supply restrooms
• Clean, sweep, and polish county vehicles
• Gather and remove litter
• Moves office equipment and furniture
• Other duties as assigned
IT Intern:
Allen County Job and Family Services has an excellent opportunity for a MIS, Computer Science, or Computer Programming major to gain practical experience in their field as an IT Intern. As an intern, you will work across multiple Information Technology disciplines to meet the needs of staff, and identify opportunities for efficiencies utilizing technology. From general help desk and troubleshooting, to network functionality and database programming, the IT Intern has the opportunity to work with our Agency in a field of interest and build a great work experience.
A successful IT Intern will bring analytical and problem-solving aptitude, along with technical skills and a willingness to find solutions. The IT Intern will need to be motivated and detail-oriented to help move our IT/MIS division forward. A foundational knowledge of all common Microsoft Office programs (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is strongly preferred.
Marketing Intern:
• Assists with Agency marketing and recruitment materials for employers and social media platforms
• Assists with implementing social media campaigns
• Assists with recruitment, such as conducting resume searches for job postings and notifying employers of candidates
• Knowledge and experience of digital photography and video production to assist our multimedia specialist
• Knowledge and experience with website coding and programming to assist our multimedia specialist
• Knowledge of visual and multi-media techniques
• Must be creative and have graphic design experience
