Job Overview

The University of Cincinnati, College of Engineering and Applied Science, Department of Chemical and Environmental Engineering, invites applications for a Research Associate(at 75% FTE), to perform research in The Lee Lab ( in developing an innovative sorbent-based Direct Air Capture (DAC) technology. Candidates with a strong background in inorganic chemistry, synthesis, characterization, and adsorption are encouraged to apply.

The successful candidate will conduct research and development for a successful bench-scale demonstration of Dr. Lee's sorbent-based DAC technology, and mentor a Post Doc and students who are working on the project.

Essential Functions

Assist with the coordination of research studies in a particular discipline.
Make independent contributions to projects and studies based on professional training or functional experience.
Solve problems using combined research knowledge.
Independently works on whole projects/problems.
Contribute to the collective team effort.
Perform statistical and graphical analysis of data, interpret data and assist in judging validity of data.
Analyze research results.
Organize data search and analysis procedures.
Assist in establishing test controls, criteria and research standards.
Assist in the design of complex data processing systems to analyze research data.
Accomplish assigned results for project/studies, or for significant aspects of larger, complex assignments.
Serve as a seasoned level researcher.
May provide direct and/or indirect supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff (i.e., hiring/firing, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, approve time off, etc.).

Minimum Requirements

A Ph.D. degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Materials Science is required by the appointment date.

Required Education

Bachelor's Degree required in a related field.

Required Trainings/Certifications

Required Experience

In-depth knowledge of specialized field, process or discipline.

Additional Qualifications Considered

Preference may be given to candidates with the following additional qualifications:

Strong background in reaction, separation, and process engineering.
Strong publication record.
Previous experience as a Post Doc.
Previous experience in implementing scale-up.
