Job Overview


Lindner College of Business (LCB) is searching for a Study Abroad Advisor. This role will facilitate study abroad opportunities for business majors. The Study Abroad Advisor will provide general study abroad advising and promotion, as well as assistance to logistical and administrative support to faculty-led, short-term programs. As a primary function, the Study Abroad Advisor will be mentored and trained for student advising, face to face and online presentations, faculty support, travel coordination, and associated administrative tasks.

LCB sends up to 600 students abroad annually primarily through faculty-led, short-term programs at both the undergraduate and graduate level. LCB International Programs Office collaborates with UC International and follows their guidelines in study abroad management and risk management protocol.

This position will have the option of a hybrid work schedule (3 days in office/2 days work remotely) for those in residence within the Greater Cincinnati Tri-State region following 90 days of training. Remote work arrangements are subject to change in accordance with university policies.

Essential Functions


Student Advising


Assist students in selecting a study abroad program that is right for the student and meets their academic goals and intentions.
Advise students through pre-travel, travel and post-travel requirements for study abroad.
Conduct advising appointments through face-to-face meetings, email and telephone depending on the student's availability.
May be required to travel internationally to assist and co-lead a study abroad program with a faculty member.

Marketing and Communications


Present on experiential program options in orientations, classes, and student organization meetings as requested.
Maintain and update LCB IPO webpages as assigned to recruit for programs.
Submit social media posts to highlight faculty-led programs.

Administration


Process program applications and maintain student information in database.
Manage all student and faculty applications in database.
Assist with logistic planning for faculty-led programs, including reservations for flights, hotels, and sightseeing.
Manage visa processing for international programs.
Post program charges and request scholarships.
Compile student information and safety procedures for program leaders prior to travel.
Run data reports quarterly.
Perform related duties based on departmental need. This job description can be changed at any time.

Required Education


Bachelor's Degree

Required Experience


Experience living, working or studying abroad.

Additional Qualifications Considered



Ability to interact with diverse constituents from faculty, students, and administrators.
Experience working with college students from diverse backgrounds.
A demonstrated interest in promoting study abroad and bridging cultures.
Strong computer skills to navigate required university computer systems and standard suite of Microsoft Office software.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Master's degree is ideal.
