Summa Rehab Hospital, a joint venture between Summa Health System and Vibra Healthcare, is a new state of the art 60-bed rehab facility. Our interdisciplinary team approach is a crucial part of our effective rehabilitation program. Our team of professionals understand a wide variety of multi-faceted, complex disabilities and each member contributes unique services to the rehabilitation process. Our work is devoted to assisting and educating our patients to become more independent, to improve their self-esteem and to improve functional ability. Summa Rehab Hospital is seeking a Full Time Cook to join our team!
Full-time; non-exempt; 32 hours per week (4 shifts)
Shift: 11:00 a.m. - 7:30 p.m.; every other weekend required; holiday rotation required
Performs a variety of food prep, cooking and general duties necessary for the operation of a hospital food service department. Maintains high standards of food quality, nutritional value of food, sanitation, safety and presents food in an appetizing manner. May accept delivery of dietary supplies including inspection of products to insure freshness and accuracy of delivery. Also assists in the storage and rotation of food stores and monitors food expiration dates.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Two (2) years of experience as a cook in lieu of education will be considered.
Food handling certification as required by State regulations.
Culinary arts training preferred.
Two (2) years of food service experience preferred, including a minimum of one (1) year of experience cooking and working in an institutional setting.
Therapeutic Diet experience preferred.
Ability to project a professional image.
Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements.
Strong organizational, prioritizing and analytical skills.
Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant.
Working knowledge of computer and software applications used in job functions.
Freedom from illegal use of and effects of use of drugs and alcohol in the workplace.
