Employment Services Specialist

The Employment Services Specialist serves workforce development program participants and individual job seekers from varied levels of education and competence. The primary responsibility for the Employment Services Specialist is to manage program participant cases for individual and families who are required to work for public assistance benefits. The successful candidate will assist program participants in preparing to enter or re-enter the workforce by completing in-depth assessments and making appropriate work assignment determinations. This individual will monitor progress and help program participants plan career goals and assist with seeking available resources to remove barriers to employment.

The successful candidate will have:

  • A service minded attitude with outstanding customer service skills.
  • Aptitude to learn and apply federal, state, county, and agency policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work effectively with and communicate professionally with clients and customers from widely varied levels of education and competence.
  • Ability to apply critical thinking and analytical skills, define and solve problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and make sound decisions.
  • Ability to type and effectively operate/navigate multiple computer programs simultaneously and be proficient in Microsoft Office 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, and SharePoint).
  • Proficiency in mathematics, grammar, writing, punctuation, and spelling.
  • Ability to organize and maintain information and paperwork.
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure in a fast-paced work environment and to prioritize and re-prioritize work assignments.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively plan independently and in collaboration with other agency units and outside agencies.
  • Capability to work harmoniously with others and collaboratively with a team.
  • Regular and dependable attendance.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen, and background check.
  • A current, valid Ohio driver’s license and ability to pass a driver’s record check.
  • An Associate degree in social services or related field is desired, but not required.
