This is a community-based position that involves daily travel to community sites in Knox County. This position provides a comprehensive benefits package, including a generous PTO package, Health/Dental/Vision insurance, 403b retirement plan with employer contribution. Alcohol and Drug Freedom Center of Knox County is a Federal Loan Forgiveness Participant.

The Freedom Center, a non-profit community behavioral health center, has been providing quality behavioral healthcare to adults and adolescents for more than 46 years and seeks to make a positive difference in the lives of individuals living with mental health issues and substance use disorders. We offer our staff an environment where ideas and contributions are recognized and valued. Our team members are provided a range of growth opportunities, comprehensive benefits, career resources, celebratory acknowledgments, and the chance to give back to the population we serve.

The Rural Street Outreach Specialist plays a pivotal role in the Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Outreach Program, dedicated to connecting individuals who are homeless or facing imminent homelessness and are dealing with substance use disorders to crucial services. This position involves proactive outreach efforts in rural areas to facilitate access to various services, including re-engagement, screenings, clinical assessments, treatment, case management, and supportive resources to support recovery and stability.

CDCA (Chemical Dependency Counselor Assistant) credential preferred (expected to be obtained within one year of employment if not already obtained).

  • Proficiency in utilizing HMIS or similar systems for accurate data tracking and documentation.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and advocacy skills to engage with diverse populations in rural communities.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams and community stakeholders.
  • In-depth understanding of challenges faced by rural homeless individuals and knowledge of available support resources.
