Position Summary:

Schafer Industries is currently seeking a Project Engineer for its Schafer Driveline operation in Fredericktown, OH.

Job Summary:

The Project Engineer manages the planning and processes of a project and delegate responsibilities to ensure the project is completed efficiently and successfully. The Project Engineer is responsible for leading a team of professionals in completing various projects by a set deadline to uphold business initiatives. Their duties include setting or adjusting project schedules to adhere to deadlines, and upholding project standards by developing project implementation plans and adjusting specifications for elements of a project. 

 Essential Functions: 

  • Conduct regular meetings with appropriate parties to ensure clarification and meet specific requirements in a timely manner.
  • Work with appropriate parties to maintain budgets and make adjustments according to needs as they arise.
  • Track performance and analyze the completion of key goals.
  • Document and report project progress to stakeholders.
  • Conduct regular meetings with appropriate parties to ensure clarification and meet specific requirements in a timely manner.
  • Creating long- and short-term plans, including setting targets for milestones and adhering to deadlines.
  • Delegating tasks on the project to employees best positioned to complete them.
  • Making effective decisions when presented with multiple options for how to progress with the project.
  • Serving as a point of contact for teams when multiple units are assigned to the same project to ensure team actions remain in synergy.
  • Assessing the quality of the project throughout development to maintain the standards expected.
  • Adjusting schedules and targets on the project as needs or financing for the project change. 

 Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Project Management, or related field is preferred
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred
  • Strong time-management and analytical skills
  • Organization and problem-solving skills 
  • Ability to use specialized software for collaboration and time management, including spreadsheets
  • Experience with MRP systems
  • Experience with process improvement
  • Firm understanding of complex mathematical concepts
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Strong communication skills 

Working Conditions:

  • This job operates in a professional, office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. 
  • Travel is primarily local during the business day with occasional overnight travel.
