UMD-General Laborer
Job Purpose:
The purpose of this position is to assist where needed within the plant to perform various duties needed.
Duties:
· Clean and grind components before they are painted
· Perform manual machining operations
· May utilize hand tools and measuring devices
· Sub-assembly
· Sweeping and cleaning of production floor with broom and scrubber
· Emptying cardboard containers into proper disposal receptacle
· Emptying all garbage cans on production floor (offices as instructed)
· Complete cleaning of all plant areas including all bathrooms (sweeping, moping, trash, etc.)
· Shoveling and salting of sidewalks and door entries as needed
· Maintains interior / exterior of building / grounds in clean and safe condition as directed
· Assist in shipping / receiving (packing, counting, organizing, etc.)
· May run local errands / pick up or deliver items/materials as needed

Acceptable Education/Training/Experience:
· A high school diploma or equivalent
· Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted
· Must possess a valid driver’s license
Work Environment:
· The duties of this position are performed in a shop environment which requires PPE per OSHA standards (per UMD Employee Handbook.) The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and vibration. Work environment may be stressful at times due to tight deadlines and employee may need to work beyond normal shift to meet customer deadlines. Ability to work in varying climate and temperature conditions.

· While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, climb stairs and use hands independently or both hands together. The employee frequently is required participate in two-way communication. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
