Wage: Up to $25.00 an hour based on experience. Each phase the development program offers opportunity for increase in wage.

What Will Be Your Environment:
The Painesville plant is one of the larger facilities in the area, just outside of Cleveland, OH.

You'll have the opportunity to develop skills that will allow you to grow your career well into the future. This is hands-on development program that is great opportunity for someone start, pivot, or continue their career in industrial operations with a stable and growing organization.

What You'll Do:
The Chemical Operator Development Program offers individuals with limited or no chemical industry experience the opportunity to learn, develop, progress, and promote through our comprehensive program. We utilize a phased approach with pay increases along the way as the candidate attains new skills and advances through the program, all the while enjoying competitive benefits and wages. This program enables the candidate to skill build and have continued growth within the organization.

What We're Looking For:
Phase 1 – Packaging Building: Material Handler

  • Operate tow motor and drum pickers.
  • Safely drive and operate various delivery vehicles, including forklifts.
  • Load the conveyor with new drums and totes for packing and the palletizer with the required pallets.
  • Coordinate the transfer of filled drums and totes back to the plant for internal use.
  • Clean tops of drums; crimp drum bungs; and rubberband the drums for transfer.
  • Thief sampling of drums and /or totes.

Phase 2 – Manufacturing: Packer

  • Inspect and operate tow motor and drum pickers.
  • Assist Chemical Operators with various in-unit activities.
  • Understand and comply with all procedures associated with assigned tasks, including use of proper PPE.
  • Fill drums at remote packing stations throughout the facility.
  • Participate in area 5S activities and initiatives.

Phase 3 – Manufacturing: Operator in Training

  • Able to perform all duties and responsibilities of Manufacturing Packer
  • Process chemical products using batch sheet instructions.
  • Communicate and make material transfers.
  • Load and unload material containers (tank cars/trucks, drums, and totes).
  • Clean/prepare equipment for maintenance as required.
  • Read various control panels and field instruments.
  • Participate in plant emergency response organization with the requirement of successfully completing the 36 Hour Fire Course test and state test.
  • Track/record process information and production data.
  • Troubleshoot equipment, processes, etc.
  • Become familiar with Safe Work Program process for equipment preparation to allow maintenance under a work permit issued to the maintenance work crew.

Throughout the program:

  • Safely operate and work with industrial equipment using the proper PPE and safety procedures.
  • Maintain supplies, tools, equipment, instruments, storage areas, walkways, and roadways utilizing various equipment to ensure compliance with safety requirements.
  • Perform safety inspections of area and equipment. Properly record safety inspections.
  • Clean and maintain supplies, tools, equipment, instruments, storage areas, walkways, and roadways utilizing various equipment to ensure compliance with safety requirements.
  • Work with various departments (production, order handling, etc.).
  • Participate in Safety Meetings.
  • General housekeeping.
  • Demonstrate the company Purpose, Strategy, and Values in everyday work.
  • Follow department procedures and practices, including the ability to hear alarms and follow alarm procedures.

Skills That Make a Difference:

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Willingness and ability to learn and grow.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and problem solve.
  • Safety minded, team player, detail-oriented, strong interpersonal communication skills (verbal/written).
  • Ability to wear SCBA\Respirator, including maintain clean shaven appearance to allow for respirator usage.
  • Basic math and reading/comprehension skills and mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to be self-motivated without immediate supervision.
  • Flexibility with schedule and work duties.
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task while delivering focused results.
  • Follow-up skills and the ability of quick thinking in a dynamic environment are crucial to success.

Considered a Plus:

  • Previous tow motor or forklift experience.
  • Additional computer skills.
  • Working SAP knowledge and/or experience with control systems.
  • Understanding of hazardous materials and safety procedures (MSDS, JSA’s, etc.)

Working Conditions:

  • Will be subject to extended periods of climbing ladders and stairways, sitting, walking, standing, bending, stooping, carrying, pushing, pulling, reaching, moving, and lifting up to 55 pounds.
  • Willing to work 12-hour shifts, overtime, and holidays as needed.
