POSITION PURPOSE:
North Wind Portage is seeking to hire a qualified applicant for a contamination control technician position. The preferred candidate will be a team player with excellent attention to detail who is looking to gain experience in the environmental remediation industry.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Perform routine disinfection of frequently touched surfaces.
Clean appliances, lavatories and showers.
Restock consumable inventories.
Vacuum, mop, scrub, and polish floors.
Remove trash and other refuse.
Remove dust from equipment, furniture, and fixtures.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform decontamination activities in accordance with site procedures.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience.
1 year of work experience in contamination control, custodial engineering, or a similar role.
Skills and Abilities:
Motivated and willing to work as part of a team and perform multiple job functions.
Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Work well with others in a group or one-on-one setting.
Understand and carry out detailed, but uninvolved, written or oral instructions.
Understand the operational characteristics of the assigned equipment.
Clearly communicate professionally, both orally and in written form.
Have knowledge of and comply with all regulations and procedures governing safe driving, inspection, and maintenance of equipment.
Execute tasks after receiving written or oral instructions.
Maintain records related to tasks performed.
Special Requirements:
Proof of US citizenship.
Must have a valid driver's license.
May be required to pass a pre-employment background check.
Must be required to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
Must be able to receive a normal BeLPT result.
Must be able to pass a physical examination, including a pulmonary function test.
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including overtime and weekends, pending demand.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Current 40-Hour HAZWOPER certification.
Rad Worker II training.
Current normal BeLPT result.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Ability to work in hot or cold environments for reasonable periods of time.
Physically able to perform job tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Both indoor and outdoor tasks to be expected.
Elevated noise levels possible.
Use of equipment such as, but not limited to; vacuums, mops, wet brushes, and pressure washers.
