Job Description Summary

The College of Arts & Sciences at Shawnee State University seeks qualified individuals beginning Fall and Spring Semesters to serve as Part-time, Adjunct Faculty in the Department of English & Humanities for traditional classes in the following areas.

  • Composition 
  • British Literature
  • Public Speaking and Human Communication 
  • Ethics in Public/Private Life

 

Minimum Qualifications

(EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND EXPERIENCE)

  1. Master’s degree in the respective or related area
  2. Possess excellent communication skills and ability to communicate effectively with students with a wide range of skills
  3. Ability to use technology in teaching
  4. Ability to use collaborative learning techniques and student-centered methods of instruction
  5. Ability to work in a multiethnic/multicultural environment
  6. Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evening assignments – daytime availability a plus (in some cases, may be required)

Adjunct faculty at SSU are also eligible for tuition waivers (Tuition Waiver for Adjunct Faculty Policy (Download PDF reader)) and enjoy professional development opportunities, free parking, office space, and limited mileage reimbursement. They and their family (children 14years and up) also have free access to the Rhodes Athletic Facility.
 
 
Employment with the University is dependent upon BOT budget approval for the current fiscal year.
