HX5 is currently seeking a Radioisotope Power Systems / Electrical Engineer to join our team in Cleveland, Ohio in support of the GEARS contract at NASA Glenn Research Center.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The selected candidate will provide engineering support to NASA's Glenn Research Center (GRC) to support the development of a Radioisotope Power Systems (RPS) to power the rovers and landers on the Lunar and Martian surfaces. The effort is focused on an electrically heated Stirling-based generator and subsystems for a space flight mission. Assigned duties will include testing of the hardware which would consist of a flight-equivalent microcontroller, ADCs, and housekeeping circuitry. Additionally, this work will involve radiation hardened part selection, assisting in identifying long lead procurements, BOM generation, enclosure design, and reviews.
Required Skills:
Experience designing electrical systems in a space environment.
Experience in designing, analyzing, troubleshooting, and testing power and control systems.
Ability to design a housing for the generator and control system for flight conditions.
Skills using PCB software such as Altium or Cadence.
Experience in power system analysis.
Other Desired Skills:
Knowledge of IPC/IEEE standards.
Technical report writing skills.
Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with 2 to 5 years of experience or Master's degree with 0 to 3 years of experience.
Other Position Requirements:
Proof of U.S. Citizenship or U.S. Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position.
Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.
