Job Description

Ohio Means Jobs Cleveland/Cuyahoga County is sourcing Hosts/Hostesses for a local restaurant chain. This establishment has 6 locations to work from including Mayfield, Lakewood, Independence, Beachwood, Downtown Cleveland and Bedford. Part time and Full-time positions available.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Creates the first impression with a guest in person or over the phone by greeting in a friendly manner, providing prompt customer service and attending to their needs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Promptly greets guests in a welcoming manner with a smile in person or over the phone.
  • Politely answers phone within 2 rings with sincere greeting per company standard, follows up with guests who have been placed on hold after 30 seconds.
  • Uses a 2-way radio to communicate with managers and the kitchen.
  • Is attentive to guests’ needs and requests manager assistance if unable to help the guest.
  • Monitors age requirements after 5:00pm by asking for identification from all guests who appear under 30 years of age.
  • Seats guests in desired area of the restaurant with menus and silverware following proper station rotation.
  • Observes tables and keeps track of open, occupied, and dirty tables to prepare for the next guest.
  • Assists servers during the shift by clearing and resetting tables for the next seating of guests.
  • Strategically rearranges tables and chairs to accommodate large parties without interfering with guest experience at neighboring tables.
  • Completes open menu counts every 20 minutes and relays information to the kitchen and managers.
  • Creates and runs a waitlist once restaurant is at capacity as directed by management, quotes accurate wait times and obtains accurate information from the guest as required by the waitlist software.
  • Maintains knowledge of daily and weekly food and beverage specials, seasonal menus items, and daily soup options, updates special board as needed and ensures correct menus are being used.
  • Ensures popcorn is ready at designated times, is fresh, and available throughout the shift as needed.
  • Accurately rings in all takeout orders and retail items in the POS system.
  • Accepts payment from guests and properly closes checks for takeout orders, loot card and merchandise purchases.
  • Delivers curbside orders to customer vehicles that have placed takeout orders and paid online or over the phone.
  • Follows takeout procedures and checks all takeout orders are accurate in front of the guest prior to the guest
  • leaving the building. Asks the guest if they need any condiments, silverware, or napkins for their order.
  • Cleans and keeps supplies stocked in the host area and surrounding areas throughout the shift.
  • Keeps host area organized and free of clutter.
  • Ensures all video games are in proper working order, notifies a manager of any malfunction.
  • Maintains clean floors in the host and waiting areas.
  • Completes opening and closing checklists for every shift.
  • Completes daily side work and cleaning projects as designated on a checklist or assigned by a supervisor.
  • Helps keep restrooms clean and neat by performing a restroom check at designated times, restocking supplies as needed.
  • Checks and empties outdoor ashtrays frequently throughout the shift.
  • Properly uses POS equipment by using fingertips to ring in items. Does not use pens, credit cards, and other miscellaneous items to ring in orders.
  • Immediately informs a manager when a TV has a black screen or game ends.
  • Gets a manager involved with all guest issues.
  • Requests the assistance of a manager when selling Lizard Wear.
  • Maintains the Company expectations of performance and behavior as established in the Employee Handbook.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

 Mobility required during the entire shift
 Reading, writing, basic math and excellent verbal communication skills required
 Must be able to speak clearly and listen attentively to guests and other employees
 Responsible, dependable, and flexible in scheduling
 Capable of using point of sales system
 Basic computer skills required
 Is a team player
 Able to respond in emergency situations to avoid imminent dangers to self and others
