The Staff Accountant is responsible for preparing and maintaining the business financials, and other miscellaneous financial responsibilities of United Church Homes (UCH).
Essential Functions Statement(s)

Staff Accountant - Level I

Reconcile and maintain various financial statements, including balance sheet and income statement
Help provide support for offline ledgers and reconcile ledger information
Reconcile fixed assets, maintain supporting ledgers
Assist in the budgeting process, working with operations and management team
Assist in preparation, coordination, and completion of financial statements and schedules for year-end audit
Assist community leaders in understanding accounting process and code invoices when necessary
Assist in census tracking, reporting and review
Maintain banking accountability and reconciliations, reviews check registers
Communicate work status and issues with seniors, managers and directors on a timely basis
Other duties as assigned or directed

Staff Accountant - Level II

Analyze and present various financial statements, including balance sheet, income statement, accounts receivable, statement of cash flows and census data
Teach and support front line staff regarding reconciliation and maintenance of general ledger information
Reconcile fixed assets, maintain supporting ledgers
Assist in the budgeting process, working with operations and management team
Prepare, coordinate, and complete financial statements and schedules for year-end audit, including working with auditors, operations and other front-line staff for year-end compliance tracking and completion
Teach community leaders how to understand and interpret financial statements, accounting processes and code invoices
Analyze financial reports, census changes, and review and explain/teach front-line staff operating results and effects of change
Maintain banking accountability and reconciliations, review check registers, work with banks and monitor changes
Train and communicate work status and issues
Other duties as assigned or directed

Skills & Abilities

Education: Bachelor's Degree - Field of Study: Accounting or equivalent work experience
Experience: Three (3) years of experience preferred - (experience is required for Level II)
Computer Skills: Must be able to proficiently operate a computer, the Internet and basic office equipment
Other Requirements: Must obtain and maintain mandatory, state, federal requirements and certifications as needed; Must have expert Excel skills; Must have strong computer, software and Internet skills; Must have strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills; Must have strong interpersonal skills; Must be able to adhere to all terms and conditions set forth in the United Church Homes Employee Handbook
