Job Description

Annual Starting Salary: $70,000

Definition:

A senior professional engineering position of the LACRPC responsible for a variety of planning projects involving the collecting, recording, summarizing, and interpreting of economic, environmental and traffic engineering data, report writing, and information management.  The position assists other professional staff in the completion of various long range and strategic planning analyses and supervises junior technical staff assigned to the analysis and preparation of technical reports.

Required Training and Experience:

The position requires the successful completion of a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in engineering, with two (2) to four (4) years of engineering related experience.  A Master of Science (MS) degree in engineering may suffice for two (2) years of engineering experience.  Possession of a State of Ohio Professional Engineer (PE) license, or an Engineer in Training (EIT) certification is preferred.  The position also requires the possession of a valid State of Ohio motor vehicle operator’s license and specialized certifications may also be required of individual positions.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

Sound knowledge of advanced engineering principles and practices, and documented experience with various environmental and/or traffic engineering software packages are required.  Computer literacy and competence with spreadsheet and database software is essential.  Experience with software such as TransCAD, CUBE, Synchro, HCS, and GIS is preferred.  The ability to prepare, organize and present complicated engineering reports (both written and orally) is required.  The position also requires the ability to work and communicate effectively and harmoniously with staff, Commission members and the general public.

Description of Duties:

Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, positionspecific duties.

  • Manage transportation model analyses and conduct necessary model refinement.
  • Manage the County’s crash records database and annual incident reports.
  • Prepare intersection safety studies, corridor studies and warrant analyses.
  • Manage air quality work including transportation conformity analysis support.
  • Review and provide consultation regarding land use and zoning regulations.
  • Assist in the review and analysis of minor and major subdivision submissions.
  • Assist in the analysis and preparation of studies, reports and maps.
  • Represent the LACRPC at meetings as required.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
