Position Overview:
A professional planning position responsible for assisting senior professional staff in developing and managing on-going programs serving the urban and rural communities. This position is responsible for a variety of planning projects involving the collecting, recording, summarizing, and interpreting of environmental, economic, and transportation data, report writing, and information management.
Salary Range: $50,000 - $64,000
Required Training & Experience:
- The position requires the successful completion of a bachelor’s degree in environmental science, geography, natural sciences, civil engineering, planning, or a related field
- One (1) to three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in these fields
- Relevant internship or co-op experience will be considered toward the total years of experience
- The position requires possession of a valid State of Ohio motor vehicle operator's license
Preferred Knowledge & Skills:
- Solid knowledge of planning theory, principles, and methodology
- Documented evidence of research and analysis in various planning areas that may include environmental conditions, land use, transportation, housing, population, or economics
- Ability to interpret and apply complex local, state, and federal codes, ordinances, and regulations related to land development and environmental services
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Google Sheets, and basic database querying. Proficiency with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software (e.g., ESRI ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online) for mapping, spatial analysis, floodplain delineation, land use assessment, and data visualization.
- Ability to prepare, organize, and present clear, compelling technical reports (both written and orally). This position also requires the ability to work harmoniously with staff, Commission members and the public
Description of Duties:

- Assist in the development and implementation of various programming initiatives
- Assemble needed data and materials for special planning related projects
- Manage the county’s crash records database and annual incident reports.
- Prepare intersection safety studies, corridor studies and warrant analyses
- Provide air quality review and transportation conformity analysis support
- Review and provide consultation regarding land use and zoning regulations
- Review and analyze minor and major subdivision submissions
- Review and analyze floodplain development
- Assist in the analysis and preparation of studies, reports, and maps
- Represent the LACRPC at meetings as required
- Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director
