DISTINGUISHING JOB CHARACTERISTICS
The State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) training facilitator is responsible for delivering high-quality facilitation under Southern State’s established curriculum and the standards set forth for adult education. This role includes both classroom facilitation and clinical coordination, ensuring students are adequately prepared for state testing and professional practices.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To perform this job successfully, an individual must perform essential duties to the expected performance standards. Reasonable accommodations are made as necessary for individuals with disabilities under the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Develop and implement lesson plans for the STNA program as defined by the required training of the Ohio Certified Nurse Aide Manual.
Deliver engaging and effective training to adult learners in both classroom and clinical settings, and coordinate and manage student schedules for both classroom and clinical portions of the program.
Serve as the primary liaison between Southern State and clinical sites, fostering strong professional relationships that promote effective collaboration.
Maintain detailed and accurate records of student attendance, performance, and evaluations, and submit them after each class to the Director of Nursing or the assigned designee.
Uphold compliance with relevant health and safety protocols during clinical experiences.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Candidates must provide documentation from a current/former employer on letterhead regarding the hours worked at a geriatric care facility (nursing home, home health, chronic care, hospice, etc.).
Applicant must successfully pass required background checks in accordance with Southern State Community College’s policies and procedures and applicable laws, including fingerprinting and TB screening will be required.
Ability to document identity and employment eligibility as a condition of employment in compliance with Immigration Reform and Control Act requirements

Computer; printer; calculator; copier; fax machine; telephone; postage machine and other standard office equipment.

Knowledge of: multifaceted scheduling processes, standard business office practices and procedures; higher education office administration; English grammar, spelling, sentence structure and punctuation; Microsoft Office Suite; computer operations; basic mathematics; reporting formats.
Ability to: work under the general direction of the Executive Director of Workforce Development and the Director of Nursing to meet deadlines and priorities; exhibit a pleasant public manner and telephone etiquette; originate correspondence; work independently; exhibit attention to detail; originate an attractive and functional typing format; organize and file documents according to alphabetical, numerical and subject order; apply ethical standards to work situations; make work decisions in accordance with SSCC’s values; show respect and sensitivity for cultural differences, and promote an harassment-free environment; embrace and support constructive change; work efficiently and effectively to improve college operations; consistently follow safety and security procedures and practices; develop and maintain effective working relationships with students, learning community, associates and general public; contribute toward building a positive team working environment; treat others with respect as representative of SSCC.
Skill in: developing a supportive student/educational partner relationship while maintaining professional boundaries; establishing plans to support the success of the unique student situation; developing work management including the coordination of multiple projects; word processing, application of Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, application of adobe acrobat software; operation of standard office equipment; office organization; creating functional and professional electronic report formats; verbal and written communications.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must hold a current and unencumbered RN license in the State of Ohio
Has two years of experience working as a registered nurse, with at least one of those years of which must be in providing long-term care facility services. Has completed a TTT program according to the Ohio administrative code OR one-year experience in teaching adults and possess the training manual required by rule 3701-18-21 of the administrative code from an approved train the trainer program OR within the previous three years provided at least one year (1,600 hours) of direct supervision of nurse aides in a long-term care facility as a registered nurse.
Utilize strong interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with a diverse population.
Demonstrates expert clinical skills
Works independently and as a part of a team to coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously.
Preferred BSN
Has current, State-approved credentials in the Train the Trainer, Nurse Aid Training program
Teaching experience in higher education, career tech, or K-12 preferred
