Position: Child Welfare Caseworker (multiple openings)
Ashtabula County Children Services is currently accepting applications a for full-time Child Welfare Caseworker position. Applicants must meet the requirements for Child Welfare Caseworker according to State rules (OAC 5101:2-33-55) Must have good driving record and pass a drug screen.
Ideal candidates will meet the following Qualifications:

- Be able to form effective working relationships with children and families
- Be able to work flexible hours including some evenings and weekends
- Be able to coordinate a variety of service providers
- Be able to work effectively in a team environment
- Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Possess excellent organizational skills
- Possess competent computer skills
- Be able to meet deadlines
Job Description:
- Works with families and children affected by abuse, neglect or dependency issues to address safety, permanency and well-being of children.
- Provides services to prevent the removal of children from their homes whenever possible
- Makes recommendations regarding custody and placement of children when safety is a factor
- Completes assessments to assist families in developing and completing case plans to reduce risk to children
- Collaborates with service providers to ensure the delivery of needed services to families and children.
- Prepares for and attends court proceedings
- Works with law enforcement in situations that may involve criminal acts
- Works with substitute caregivers to insure children’s needs are met
Compensation:
- $22.153 starting with consideration based on experience
Education:
- Associate's degree in social work or related field to apply. Bachelor's degree will be required to be obtained within 5 years of hire
- Bachelor's degree preferred in social work or a related field
