POSITION TITLE: Court Administrator/Magistrate
HOURS: Full-time, 40 hours per week, County Benefits
ANNUAL SALARY: Commensurate with skills and experience, $85,000-$110,000
The Court Administrator/Magistrate is under the direct supervision of the Ashtabula County Court of Common Pleas, General Division Judges.
QUALIFICATIONS/KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES NEEDED/GENERAL DUTIES:
The Ashtabula County Court of Common Pleas, General Division seeks a licensed attorney to serve as the full-time Court Administrator/Magistrate. Applicant must have an active license to practice law in the State of Ohio, and the majority of this position’s duties are those of Court Administrator. Applicant would cover other General Division Magistrate hearings on an as-needed basis. Under the general direction of the Judges, the Court Administrator provides general direction and supervision of all Court systems operations including case management, records management, budget, fiscal, technology, human resources, facilities management, and jury management. The Court Administrator must be able to conduct research and advise the Court on legal issues, while maintaining confidentiality. The Court Administrator must represent the Court in a positive and professional manner at all times to all persons who access the Court, including all Elected Officials, Judges, attorneys, court personnel and the public.
Applicants must have good communication skills, and be able to prioritize tasks and deal well with others, including the public. Applicants must be able to work efficiently and accurately, meet time-sensitive demands, and prepare meaningful, organized reports and work with all persons, including employees and Judges in a courteous and fair manner, setting a good example for others. The Court Administrator shall develop and maintain effective working relationships with all three Judges for the General Division. Once hired, completion of the Ohio Supreme Court’s, Court Management Program at Court expense is required.
