Job Summary
This is the third level (fourth if Senior) of the non-Engineer degreed technical support role job classification. Engineering Technologist III provide technical expertise to solve more complex problems and leadership skills to provide oversight and direction of work in a specific area of expertise, with limited supervision. Incumbents are expected to develop advanced skills and the ability to work with a high degree of independence. This position will include, but not limited to, oversee Storm Protection & Grid Hardening, Load Growth & System Capacity, and DOT & City/County Road Improvement projects.
Responsibilities
Provides deep technical expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis and resolution of problems in area of expertise,
Ensures accomplishment of business goals and objectives through effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling, and monitoring of work activities,
Independently prepares thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations and sketches,
Conducts engineering and related studies,
Strives to continually improve job-related, technical and professional knowledge, skills and performance,
Develops positive working relationships to effectively coordinate work activities,
Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills,
Maintains accurate records and files,
Supports the company's goals and represents the company positively and professionally
Basic Qualification
Note: This posting is for one open position. Dependent on relative experience, the level to which a candidate is aligned is outlined below.
Engineering Technologist III
Bachelor's of Science degree in Engineering Technology (or equivalent) AND three (3) years minimum of related experience, OR
Associate's degree in Engineering Technology (or equivalent) AND five (5) years minimum of related experience, OR
In lieu of degrees and experience listed above, high school diploma/GED AND nine (9) years minimum of related experience
Senior Engineering Technologist
Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology (or equivalent) AND six (6)+ years of relevant industry experience, OR
Associate Degree in Engineering Technology (or equivalent) AND eight (8)+ years of relevant industry experience, OR
In lieu of degrees and experience listed above, high school diploma/GED AND twelve (12)+ years equivalent experience
Additional Preferred Qualifications
Good written and oral communication skills
Experience in the utility industry
Able to effectively apply basic principles of project management
Working Conditions
Hybrid Mobility Classification - Work will be performed from both remote and onsite locations after the onboarding period. However, hybrid employees should live within a reasonable daily commute to a Duke Energy facility.
In office 2-3 days per week, flexible
