Job Overview

The Department of Engineering & Computing Education (DECE) in the College of Engineering and Applied Science (CEAS) at the University of Cincinnati (UC) invites applications for non-tenure track faculty positions at all levels (Assistant, Associate and Full).

DECE was created in 2007 with the goals of delivering the highest quality teaching and learning experience for the CEAS students, as well as advancing the scholarship of teaching and learning through a rigorous research enterprise. The department is charged with developing and sustaining premier first-year educational programs and with preparing students to become high-performing professionals in the workplace.

The department provides undergraduate students with tutoring, mentoring, advising and other support services, as well as valuable research opportunities. Graduate students learn about conducting fundamental research on engineering learning and bridging research and practice by defining effective practices, investigating (or identifying) the reasons for their effectiveness, developing curricula, assessing how students learn, and moving those findings into future engineering classrooms. Faculty in the department teach fundamental courses in undergraduate engineering, as well as graduate courses in the discipline of engineering education.

Essential Functions


Teach first-year engineering courses, with opportunities to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in engineering education as permitted by the candidate's qualifications.
Engage in scholarly activities (i.e., one or more forms of scholarship that include: Scholarship of Discovery; Scholarship of Teaching and Learning; Scholarship of Integration; and/or Scholarship of Application) and publish and/or present findings from the scholarly activities at conferences.
Perform service at the Department (e.g., student career mentoring, advising of student organizations, and performing outreach activities), College, University, and professional societies levels; nurture collaborations across the college and campus; and work to achieve departmental, college, and university strategic goals.
Further the departments' goals with its first-year educational program through collegial collaboration and teamwork both within the Department of Engineering & Computing Education and with other CEAS departments and UC Colleges.

Minimum Requirements

Prior to the effective date of appointment, applicants must:


Hold a Ph.D. degree in Engineering Education or a related discipline.
